About this piece

The strainer is part of the pot, not a steel basket dropped in: nineteen holes drilled through the clay wall behind the spout while it was still leather-hard. It handles leaf tea without a filter and comes clean under a tap.

Spout geometry took four attempts. The lip is cut at an angle and undercut on the underside, which breaks the surface tension and stops the dribble down the side that ruins most handmade pots.
