Every batch leaves the kiln in nine pieces. What survives the second firing goes on this page — usually about seven.

Nine pieces, fired together in March. When one sells out it stays out — the next batch will be slightly different.
A kiln load is not a production run. Nine pieces is what fits our smallest kiln with room for the heat to move, and firing it half-empty wastes four hours of gas. So we fire nines, photograph what comes out, and list it. The speckle on your mug came from iron in the clay body reacting to that specific firing — the next batch will freckle differently.
