About this piece
The rim is brushed with an iron slip before glazing, so it fires to a dark ring while the well stays pale and speckled. Cooks who have used it say the frame is the point: it makes a plain dish look composed without any styling.
The well is flat with a 12 mm lip — deep enough to hold juices, shallow enough to get a knife in. Rolled from a slab rather than thrown, which keeps a plate this wide from warping in the firing.
